Why would I want a Representation Agreement?

Who will make important health and personal care decisions for you once you lose your own capacity to make those decisions for yourself?

Absent a Representation Agreement, health care providers will turn to a default substitute decision maker such as a spouse or child. Would they turn to someone you would choose to make those decisions?

And authority of a default substitute decision maker is not as robust as that of a named representative. You would typically want those making decisions on your behalf to have the widest possible authority to be able to make appropriate decisions no matter what the future holds.
