Personal Injury Consultations

The majority of Paul Hergott’s career in law has been pursuing fair, financial compensation for injured victims and in the course of that career he built one of the largest personal injury legal practices in the Okanagan.

Changes in British Columbia law in 2021 (ICBC “no-fault”) and a desire to step back from the rigors of a litigation practice led to developing expertise in the much more sedate practice area of wills and estates.

Hergott Law no longer handles personal injury claims, but Paul continues to consult with injured victims (not ICBC claims) and victims of medical malpractice to assess whether their claim is one that he can confidently refer to excellent personal injury lawyers Paul developed relationships with over his many years of practicing personal injury law.

Historical Legal Columns

Paul Hergott began writing a weekly column in January 2007, when his exclusive area of legal practice was fighting for innocent injury victims against monolithic insurance companies like ICBC. Column topics were typically about personal injury claims and road safety, though Paul went on tangents from time to time into other topics that caught his attention.

The column was initially carried by Black Press in the Westside section of Kelowna’s Capital News newspaper. Castanet began carrying it on their online platform in 2014. In 2017, the column was phased out of print, but Black Press continued to carry it online across the Okanagan. Overall, the column was published weekly for 13 ½ years until July, 2020, when the demands of Hergott Law forced Paul to take a break from writing.

This is a complete archive of those 13 ½ years of columns.
