“All injuries are considered minor”

Five vehicle crash snarles Harvey

I wonder how those who suffered injuries that may never, ever completely resolve would agree with the reporter’s words: “all injuries are considered minor”.

The use of the word “minor” in news reports describing injuries sustained in crash after crash after crash after crash – leads to the unfortunate perception that crashes come without consequences; that it is as if we are driving bumper cars.

How about “The full extent of the non-life threatening injuries is unknown”…. or “Everyone involved is likely to wake up tomorrow barely able to move – let’s hope them a quick recovery”… or “We’ll call the occupants a year from now to find out how many of them are continuing with therapy for their injuries”….

Any other ideas? I’d like to pass them on to the media so that they can be part of the solution, not contributing to the problem.
