RCMP cracking down on distracted driving

31831kelownapolicelightsRCMP show tough love in February” is a Castanet story about the RCMP cracking down on distracted driving, citing preliminary statistics from 2012 that “30 per cent of motor vehicle deaths, and 37 per cent of serious injuries involved distracted driving”.

The story specifically mentions the idiotic state of the law, that hands-free cell phone use is permitted in British Columbia.  The HOLDING of a cell phone doesn’t distract drivers, it’s having your brain elsewhere, which is exactly the same hands-free as it is hand-held, that is the problem.

When are our provincial leaders going to lead us towards safer driving by banning all cell phone use by drivers?
